Piece by piece we discovered fiercely tailored pants and blazers, dresses with intricately embroidered detail and some one off experimental and sample pieces from the current ‘Zarafshan’ collection and beyond. Local artist, jeweller and taxidermist Julia deVille of Disce Mori fame brings us ’CINERARIA’, a new exhibition showing at Sophie Gannon Gallery, 2 Albert St, Richmond from the 29th July – 22nd August, featuring some exquisitely spooky pieces inspired by mortality & nature. We’ll be there with bells on.

“The collection is inspired by lonely factory lunchrooms, drab urban landscapes and “white nights and black days” of Finnish director and style auteur Aki Kaurismaki… Elements of military tailoring precision and Eastern European aesthetic combine with pattern making techniques researched from Japan make Shadows in Paradise a collection, like Kauriskami’s films which is loose, unstylised, minimal and subtly poetic.”

This collection explores the mystery and frivolity of romance through a heart shaped camera lens, behind the masquerade of a curious new love.
