Lovely Kate Luckin (clever ex-Alice shopgirl) was a brilliant MC at our own tiny ’sustainable fashion festival’ last year (see more details here – the line up was amazing!). She’s taken the ball and run with it to create an extra special event THIS Friday 19 February. See below … highly recommended! See you there.

Sustaining Fashion Forum Invite

Also worth a check out is a lecture at the NGV called “Broadening Horizons – making a place for sustainable fashion” 1:00pm at the The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square – this Saturday 20 February. For more info visit: http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/whatson/pub/events?date=2010-02-20

Before the exhibition “Together Alone” finishes at the Ian potter gallery Luke and Anna will give a floor talk. We’re ecstatic to see contemporary Australian and NZ fashion exhibited so thoughtfully.  These colourful characters are generous and fun speakers. Worth it.

Summer is almost over, and with Winter just around the corner now is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. And with the patterns priced at $20 a pop why wouldn’t you give it a go? We even sell the bespoke wool and alpaca yarn.

The much anticipated Lonely by Lonely Hearts lingerie  has finally arrived in-store – right in time for Valentine’s Day. Drop a hint to your loved one (it’s this Sunday sweetheart!) or visit Alice to discover what lies beneath (or occasionally outside). Bras, bodysuits and frilly knickers guaranteed to set hearts racing…  As seen in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar. Sigh!

Calling all new designers

Friday, February 5th, 2010

You know how we love to champion the new. The peeps at The Spirit of the Black Dress are calling for Fashion and Textile designers to enter their 2010 exhibition. You may be one of ten new designers selected to have your work on display as part of this year’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. We hear last year’s event was quite a shindig!

Applicants will be assessed on originality, silhouette an texture, and most importantly MUST use ’sustainable’ principles… a big plus in our books and an opportunity to research what this can mean! For your application form, rules on sustainability and prizes visit www.spiritoftheblackdress.com.au

But get your skates on… entries close 5pm on Friday 12 February 2010
